… I can’t say I plan to update it much more either. I have found that pretty much everyone who was reading our website is now on Facebook, so I have been doing all our updates there. It is much quicker and easier to use (and time is a big factor for me these days) plus I can be more selective about who has access to our information. I am not planning to get rid of tonyandgiovanna.com, but if you want to see recent pictures of us or just see what we’re up to, look us up on Facebook.
Happy New Year!

Going to the pumpkin patch in the fall is becoming a traditon of ours- this is our 3rd year to do it. And the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch is our favorite. Tony and I took the day off work so we could relax and beat the crowds. That morning we went to the movies to see Toy Story in 3D, which was a blast. Our kids love going to the movies as much as we do. The weather was cloudy and damp, but we decided to go to the pumpkin patch anyway. The kids had a great time! John is really becoming more of a kid and less of a baby each day.
Here he was at the pumpkin patch in 2008:
And here he is this year:

It is harder than I would ever imagine to get a decent picture of the kids together. The only way to even come close is to restrain them

One of my favorite recent pictures:

Alexandra has a lot of attitude these days:

But she also knows when to turn on the cuteness

I’m going to pretend like I took this picture this way on purpose. In reality, John stepped out of the frame right as the shutter released, and of course he was wearing the cutest smile I’d ever seen. So, I pretend like I did it on purpose to be “artsy”

John is the happiest baby you will ever meet- unless he’s hungry

The kids birthdays were pretty low-key this year. We have something big coming up in November so we decided to keep things simple for birthdays. Not to mention the fact that both their birthdays are at the beginning of the school year- not a good time for Mom to be planning parties. For John’s birthday we had some friend over for playing, hot dogs and cake. For Alexandra we had cake at home (two birthdays plus our anniversary within three weeks of each other; Septembers are not good for my hips!) and went to the Plano balloon festival the next day.

Alexandra’s 3rd birthday cake (notice how dangerously close the ponytails are to her candle!!)

This is the first time she blew out her candle all on her own:

Great picture of Tony & John- just wish he wasn’t sucking on that pacifier!

… if I seem like I have fallen off the face of the Earth. I just started my new teaching job and it has been very demanding. I am slowly adjusting to the workload my new school requires, as well as the dynamics of being a working mom with two kids. So I apologize if I haven’t called, emailed or messaged any of my family or friends in the last several weeks. I promise to get it together soon (I hope!)

On Tuesday, Alexandra started preschool for the first time. I can’t believe how much our baby girl has grown up!
Dressed and ready to go (enough with the pictures, Mom)

We got there early and had to wait for them to open

On the spur of the moment we decided to take advantage of some nice weather and go visit the Fort Worth Zoo. Here are a few pictures from our day:

Next to Christmas, Independence Day is our favorite holiday. This year we started off by going to the KaboomTown fireworks in Addison on the 3rd. The next day we woke up and went to the Plano parade (which was just down the street from us) and that afternoon we drove to Mike’s (Tony’s boss) lake house for swimming, barbecue and more fireworks.

For the past 2-3 weeks John has been taking a few steps here and there. In the last few days, he has switched to primarily walking. We officially have a toddler on our hands
Here’s the self-made “walker” he used to get himself started. It’s a stool he turned upside down and used to balance himself while walking.

Walking without his “walker”, but clearly not happy about it.

Going at it all on his own:

And here is just being cute

I couldn’t very well get rid of 8 year of updates (man, I can’t believe I’ve been doing this that long!). So, I am slowly moving the older posts and pictures over to this site. It’s easier than I thought it would be, I should have everything converted soon. In the meantime, you can still access the old webpage here: TonyandGiovanna.com, version 1.

So, I’m trying out the new blog format. I don’t really want to give up the control that I had by formating my own webpage and doing my own coding. But, I really want the ease of using an editor and not having to type so much code every time I want to do an entry. This also means that Tony can do entries since this doesn’t require someone to know HTML. So far I’m liking it. If I can figure out how to get our family picture back in the top corner then I think I’ll be happy.
