2007 Archives

Christmas 2007 (finally!)

I have no good excuse. I totally slacked on getting the family Christmas pictures up. And after all that ranting and raving about how much I love Christmas! Now, as you look through these you may be asking yourself, are there ever any pictures of Giovanna? Well, I am usually the one taking the pictures. When I ask my dear husband Tony to take pictures, the most I get is a picture of the back of my head, LOL.

We had a busy, yet fun, Christmas this year. On Friday December 21, we attending the christmas dinner for Tony's compnay. On Saturday the 22nd, all of Tony's family came over to our house for dinner and a gift exchange. On Sunday the 23rd we had some friends over for a casual dinner. We went to church with Tony's mom on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, we opened gifts with one another while we watched the Disney Christmas parade. After that, we lounged around, played with toys and watched Christmas movies. That night we drove around checking out Christmas lights. And on new years eve we did what every couple with a 1 year old does- we stayed home and watched the festivities on TV :)

December 23, 2007- Digital Scrapbooking

I have taken on a new hobby- Digital Scrapbooking. I have wanted to scrapbook forever, but the idea of buying and storing all the paper, stickers, scissors, etc. was a little too much work for me. But I have since purchased PhotoShop Elements 5.0 and have taught myself (with a little help from Seebee's Freebies) how to DigiScrap.

Here is my first real project, our trip to Disneyworld:

December 21, 2007- Afternoon at the Gaylord

We went to the Gaylord Texan earlier in the month to check out the displays and have lunch. It's a really beautiful hotel and it was very nicely decorated. Here are some pictures from that day:

December 21, 2007- Christmas Card

We usually do a photo Christmas card through Walmart.com, which is super easy and very inexpensive. But this year, since learning how to use Photoshop, I decided to make my own. I am pretty proud of it as it is just my first attempt. Though I anticipate it being even nicer next year! Here it is:

Christmas 2007
This year's decorations are pretty much the same as last year, except for a little baby proofing. I have so much Christmas stuff that I told myself I wouldn't buy anything new this year. While I did not keep to that completely, I was pretty good. Of course, I can think of a dozen new things I would like to do. One thing that is new (though I had everything already, so I didn't have to buy) is my breakfast nook display. It is centered around a 1940s Tom and Jerry drink set that we inherited from Tony's grandmother. I am so excited to have this vintage piece, and I'm even thinking about collecting more vintage Christmas pieces.

Fall 2007
This fall I added a few different things. It's not quite a Pottery Barn photo spread, but I'm getting there! I'm also trying to get creative with my photo angles. Tony's been wanting a hay bale for years, and we got one this year. He wants to keep it up for Christmas to... we'll see.

October 31, 2007- Halloween

Alexandra's 1st birthday

On Sunday September 16, we had a party to celebrate Alexandra's first birthday. Family and friends joined us for hamburgers, hotdogs, cake and ice cream (and Mom's potato salad of course!). Alexandra had fun playing with her friends and spent most of the party having fun in the backyard. Even though Tony and Alexandra had been practicing blowing out candles for a week, Tony had to blow out her candle for her. And Alexandra was not excited about her cake. She stuck her fingers in it, smeared some icing on her face, and decided she did not want any more. Everyone had a great time, and Alexandra loves all the gifts she received.

I've been playing with my camera settings trying to learn how to use it better. I left all my weird settings on and didn't realize it until halfway through the party, so a lot of the pictures didn't come out. But, here's what we got:
